Renovation activities: Olympos is revamping!
You must have noticed: this summer the Sports Café has been totally revamped! Moreover, the floors of the various sports halls (Hals 1, 2 and 3, Dance 1, MB Hall and the squash courts) have been optimised (i.e. provided with new top layers) and major maintenance of the pitches has been carried out too. As from Monday 10 September, stage 2 has commenced: the renovation of the bicycle parking, entrance area and pedestrian path.
Renovation of the bicycle parking
From Monday 10 September, the bicycle parking will be demolished in order to build a new one with a larger capacity. Utrecht University will provide temporary parking facilities.
Entrance area
On Monday 10 September, the renovation of the outside entrance area also started. In stages, the square will be provided with new paving: first the main area in front of the building, followed by the areas to the side of the building. The central entrance, the outdoor changing rooms, SMA and TRIAS can still be reached by a temporary access way.
Pedestrian path
The pedestrian path along the tennis courts will be repaved as well. At the same time, a number of seating elements (concrete stairs) will be created next to tennis courts 1, 2 and 3. A temporary footpath across the parking area will be available during the renovation works to allow you to reach Olympos’ main entrance of Olympos. Signs will warn cars of the temporary footpath and, if required, we will place additional fences.
There will be a lot of digging in front of Olympos’ main entrance and it will look quite messy for a while. If all goes according to plan, however, we will be able to boast a brand new and amazing entrance area as soon as by the end of October!
