RUS

RUS is a unique club within Rugby Nederland. Since its foundation on 18 September 1985, RUS has been the only rugby club in the Netherlands boasting female members only! RUS has more than 100 members who every week throw their body and pride into battle on the numerous mud fields in the Netherlands. There is room for everyone in a rugby team: small, big, fat, thin, blond, brown, fast, slow, weak or strong... Everyone has qualities that come in handy within our teams. Every week, prejudices are knocked off the table, or rather off the pitch.

 

RUS practices on Wednesday and Friday evenings from 7.45 PM - 9.30 PM; matches are on Sundays. In September and October, we organize an introductory course where you can practice 6 weeks for 10 euros (excl. OlymPas), to see if rugby & RUS is something for you! So whether you have been playing rugby for years or have no clue yet about the game, you are always welcome at RUS!

 

RUS is a student rugbyclub. This means that it welcomes students from Utrecht University, HU university of applied sciences and all other Dutch universities and universities of applied sciences. In addition to the practices and matches, RUS also organises a number of social activities. We organise an introductory weekend, a St Nicolas party, a New Year’s dinner, an annual trip to a secret destination, the Rugby Clinic Day, family day, ‘bitterballen’drinks, participation in tournaments and much, much more. These activities are organized by the members and make us a cohesive group on and off the field.

VSRC

V.S.R.C. stands for Veterinarian Students Rugby Club, the rugby club for Veterinary Medicine students in Utrecht. Veterinary Medicine is one of the few faculties in the Netherlands with its own rugby club. The club consists of a mens and a womens team, which train every Monday for their matches and also prepare for the 3rd half. Both teams participate in the Puppycompetition and also play as many extra games as possible, to gain more experience.

 

At the V.S.R.C. conviviality is central, so in addition to the training sessions and competitions, various other activities are organized. Are you studying Veterinary Medicine and does rugby seem like a fun sport to you? Come and have a look, or better yet, come and train with us!

U.S.R.S.

The Utrecht Student Rugby Society (U.S.R.S.) is a versatile club which caters for rugby, both at competition and elite-level, as well as social activities. U.S.R.S. has five teams that together ensure that everyone can play at a suitable level. You are welcome whether you have lots of experience or never even touched a rugby ball in your life. 

Elite-level rugby

The first U.S.R.S. team is headed by Luc Theunssens (former coach of the National Team) and participates in the top level of the first league. This U.S.R.S flagship team plays rugby at elite level. 

In addition to this top team U.S.R.S has four more rugby teams. These teams participate in the third and fourth leagues and in the ‘Jonghe Honden’ competition.
Rugby practice for the league teams is scheduled for Tuesdays and Thursdays, 8-10 PM. The Jonghe Honden have practice on the same days from 6.30-8 PM.

Jonghe Honden
The Jonghe Honden team is aimed at students with little or no experience in rugby. Each year, a new team is formed. Through intensive training the new U.S.R.S. additions are prepared for matches against the Jonghe Honden teams of other rugby clubs. During this first year, the Jonghe Honden will gradually move on to the other U.S.R.S.  teams so they will be ready to join the regular competition in the next year. 

Social activities

In addition to the sports activities, U.S.R.S. also intends to provide all members with an enjoyable – rugby-oriented – student time. Each year the club organises a trip abroad to play against a local club and to have a great time together. Cities such as Edinburgh, Napoli, Bucharest are colored amber-maroon. The club also organises drinks parties and other activities year-round, such as the Ameland Beach Rugby Festival, Skiing trip, ‘Sinterkerst’, Society dinner, the Dies Natalis (the anniversary of our club ) and much more. 

U.S.R.S.
U.S.R.S. is aimed at male university and HBO (Higher Professional Education) students. Our society includes big and small, fast and slow rugby players. Everyone with a heart for rugby is welcome at U.S.R.S.!

Membership of U.S.R.S. is € 120.00 per year.
