Drytooling workshop

13 February 2026

Drytooling workshop

Drytooling is ice climbing without ice. It involves climbing rock routes that would otherwise be unclimbable, but it is also often practised on artificial walls such as those we have at Kalymnos Utrecht in winter. In this workshop, you will learn the basic techniques of climbing with ice axes and crampons, and how to do so safely, on the specially equipped walls of Kalymnos. After the workshop, if the instructor gives you a positive assessment, you can continue drytooling independently.

Please note: to participate, you must be able to belay independently with a semi-automatic device such as a gri-gri, jul2, smart or other “self-locking” belay device.
