USP Running Symposium

19 March 2026

Are you participating in the Utrecht Marathon or are you a keen runner? Register for the Running Symposium on March 19th.

On Sunday, May 31st, Utrecht Science Park will once again be the setting for the Utrecht Marathon. Thousands of runners will line up at the starting line to achieve a fantastic feat: running a quarter, half, or full marathon! To help you prepare optimally, the Utrecht Science Park Foundation, in collaboration with partners Utrecht University, UMC Utrecht, Utrecht University of Applied Sciences, and Olympos Sports Centre, is organizing a running symposium where you’ll be informed and inspired to get the most out of your running performance.

Who is it for?

The symposium is primarily intended for employees and students of Utrecht Science Park participating in one of the Utrecht Marathon distances. If you’re a running enthusiast or are still unsure about participating, you’re also very welcome. But be quick, as tickets are limited.

What is it about?

The running symposium offers an evening packed with information and inspiration from various speakers on how to optimally prepare for running a marathon (or quarter marathon, or half marathon). The speakers will share research findings, (personal) experiences, and practical running tips from both academic and practical perspectives. This year’s speakers are:

  • Imo Muller (moderator) – Avid runner and owner of a sports marketing agency
  • Monique van de Velde – Sports nutritionist, sports influencer, and avid runner
  • Yara van Gendt – Sports and performance psychologist and coach for elite athletes
  • Jeroen Hasselaar – Exercise scientist, UMC Utrecht
  • Miranda Boonstra – Former elite athlete and marathon coach

Where and when is it?

  • Date: March 19, 2026
  • Time: 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM (drinks and snacks will be provided upon arrival)
  • Location: UMC Utrecht, Blauwe Lecturezaal, Heidelberglaan 100, 3584 CX Utrecht
