U.S.R.S.
The Utrecht Student Rugby Society (U.S.R.S.) is a versatile club which caters for rugby, both at competition and elite-level, as well as social activities. U.S.R.S. has five teams that together ensure that everyone can play at a suitable level. You are welcome whether you have lots of experience or never even touched a rugby ball in your life.
Elite-level rugby
The first U.S.R.S. team is headed by Luc Theunssens (former coach of the National Team) and participates in the top level of the first league. This U.S.R.S flagship team plays rugby at elite level.
In addition to this top team U.S.R.S has four more rugby teams. These teams participate in the third and fourth leagues and in the ‘Jonghe Honden’ competition.
Rugby practice for the league teams is scheduled for Tuesdays and Thursdays, 8-10 PM. The Jonghe Honden have practice on the same days from 6.30-8 PM.
Jonghe Honden
The Jonghe Honden team is aimed at students with little or no experience in rugby. Each year, a new team is formed. Through intensive training the new U.S.R.S. additions are prepared for matches against the Jonghe Honden teams of other rugby clubs. During this first year, the Jonghe Honden will gradually move on to the other U.S.R.S. teams so they will be ready to join the regular competition in the next year.
Social activities
In addition to the sports activities, U.S.R.S. also intends to provide all members with an enjoyable – rugby-oriented – student time. Each year the club organises a trip abroad to play against a local club and to have a great time together. Cities such as Edinburgh, Napoli, Bucharest are colored amber-maroon. The club also organises drinks parties and other activities year-round, such as the Ameland Beach Rugby Festival, Skiing trip, ‘Sinterkerst’, Society dinner, the Dies Natalis (the anniversary of our club ) and much more.
U.S.R.S.
U.S.R.S. is aimed at male university and HBO (Higher Professional Education) students. Our society includes big and small, fast and slow rugby players. Everyone with a heart for rugby is welcome at U.S.R.S.!
Membership fees (exclusive OlymPas)
Membership of U.S.R.S. is € 110.00 per year.
